BT switches on next-generation broadband in Ireland

BT has said is switching on the full capability of its next-generation network in Ireland.
Describing it as a "radical move", the decision could bring broadband speeds of up to 24 mbps to households and businesses across the republic.
The latest announcement follows the January of up to 8 mbps broadband in selected areas in Dublin, Kildare and Limerick
BT director Emer Kennedy said the next-generation network enables the telecoms giant to "radically shake up" the market by trebling broadband speeds without increasing prices.
"We are ensuring that BT customers have access to the fastest possible DSL broadband service available from any operator in Ireland today," he added.
Earlier this month, BT announced its intention to invest £1.5 billion in a super-fast broadband network that will change the internet landscape in the UK.
The company claims the service will deliver speeds of up to 100 mbps, rising to more than 1,000 mbps in the future.
