BT unveils quickest ever broadband

BT has expanded its selection of BT Infinity broadband deals to encompass a new ultrafast service, providing maximum download speeds of 100Mbps.
The broadband provider's Infinity Option 3 package is based on fibre that is delivered to individual homes to offer the company's highest consumer download speed, while allowing users to upload material to the internet at up to 15Mbps.
It is making the technology available to customers with unlimited evening and weekend calls for only £35 a month, but its availability will be initially restricted to a limited number of exchanges.
Consumers situated in Highams Park and Leytonstone in London, Ilford in the London borough of Redbridge, Ashford in Middlesex and Forest Hill in the London borough of Lewisham will be able to access the technology.
Other areas that will be able to obtain the service are York, St Austell, Chester and Exeter.
The broadband provider has been rolling out 40Mbps superfast broadband throughout Britain, with its BT Infinity Option 1 and 2 bundles now available to over six million homes and businesses.
BT is hoping that roughly two-thirds of UK homes and premises will be able to use fibre-based superfast broadband by the end of 2014.
John Petter, managing director of BT's Consumer division, said: "We are seeing very encouraging take-up of our fibre-based broadband and we now have more than 300,000 customers.
"Today's addition expands our product offering, so we now have three versions of BT Infinity offering high speeds that allow families to do more online at the same time."
Other broadband providers have been investing in new services recently, with Be Broadband re-launching its line bonding technology.
This system works by taking two broadband lines and combining them to power a single connection, providing consumers with double their upload and download rates.
Also, the connections are merged by the router, meaning that people can plug the technology into existing networks at home or in the workplace.
