BT works to fix village broadband issues

Tuesday 20th May 2008, by Daniel King

Broadband provider BT was threatened with legal action after a village in Wales complained it was not getting a satisfactory service, reports the Daily Post.

The importance of broadband connections to Gwytherin in Conwy was highlighted by the threat issued to BT from a group of residents in a meeting with the Ofcom Wales director Rhodri Williams.

However, spokesperson for BT Paul Hayward explained: "Working with local assembly members and the community, Openreach has been working hard in the area, and has been active in investigating ways of improving the service to Gwytherin."

Mr Hayward added that a new proposal has been put forward to help broadband access for the local community which is currently being discussed with the Welsh assembly.

Recently released preliminary results for BT showed a two per cent rise in revenue for the financial year up to March 31st 2008 from the previous 12-month period.
