Daisy Wholesale announces trial of BT broadband connection
Thursday 5th January 2012, by Daniel King
Daisy Wholesale has given some of its partners the chance to sample BT's latest fibre-to-the-cabinet (FFTC) broadband deal.
This invitation has been offered in an effort to double the download speed of its current offering, giving people the chance to sample faster broadband connections, ahead of a planned upgrade in the near future.
Currently, Daisy provides speeds of up to 40Mb, although it hopes that they could rise to 80Mb, while plans are for upload speeds of 20Mb to also be made available.
The trial is obtainable in a selected number of exchanges and, for those who meet its criteria, usage has been agreed with BT.
Daisy Wholesale product manager Craig Peterson said that high demand has been seen from resellers who wish to participate in the project, with the improved connections giving people faster access to music, films and other online multimedia.
Mr Paterson elaborated: "These trials will give partners and end users the opportunity to understand the benefits of superfast broadband in their business in advance of the next generation of FTTC products, which will offer even greater speeds for those served directly via the exchange."
He continued by describing the trial as a way for partners to engage with their customer base and shape the methods through which modern businesses can collaborate at high speed.
The Isle of Wight is also set to benefit from improved broadband, as its cabinet has confirmed plans to invest £3 million in helping to supply the services.
George Brown, Isle of Wight Council's deputy leader, confirmed that BT has committed to installing superfast connections in commercially viable areas, such as Newport, Cowes and Ryde.
As part of the plans, the council is hoping that its planned £3 million investment will be matched by government money along with extra funding from the private sector.
