More customers join BT Wi-Fi community
It has been revealed that 100,000 UK broadband customers have joined BT FON, a community network of wireless hotspots.
The service, which was launched by broadband supplier BT in October last year, can be used in addition to BT Openzone and allows customers to voluntarily share part of their home broadband connection on a separate channel.
Customers can then become part of the community, which functions on an international scale, and is automatically offered to BT Total Broadband Anywhere customers.
Director of consumer internet services at the company Jon Hurry explained: "With more people signing up to BT FON everyday, Wi-Fi coverage in the UK is set to get better and better."
BT has also announced the launch of a Wholesale Ethernet Service, offering a new generation of broadband for larger enterprise and business companies, which could suit those with multiple sites hoping for faster, cheaper communication.
