Welsh BT broadband users 'cut off'

Residents in Betws yn Rhos and Llanelian have spent the past few days struggling to access the internet following a BT fault.
The BBC reports that those living in the two north Wales villages have been hit by a BT fault, which has affected not only leisure users but those who rely on an online connection for business purposes.
One of these has been Ian McLaughlin, who lives near Llanelian, who points out that he has been unable to connect to his Stroud office or his factory in Preston while working from home.
He states that his neighbours have had similar problems and became frustrated when contacting the BT support line for help with little success.
Indeed, Mr McLaughlin claims that "hundreds of hours" have been spent on the phone to the call centre "with people repeating and duplicating the same thing".
David Mason from the Computer Shop at Colwyn Bay adds that he spent more than two hours on the phone trying to get his connection fixed, while an increasing number of people contacted his business asking him to take a look at their machine.
And although such problems have now been fixed - as a spokesperson for BT claimed there was a fault in the core network link - it could act as an ideal incentive for those affected and other Britons to switch broadband suppliers.
In fact now could be an ideal time to investigate what internet access options are available to them as a recent Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development study revealed the UK came in the bottom ten of a list of 30 countries ranked on broadband speed, coming behind countries such as Spain and Greece.
