Broadband security taken to new level
Tuesday 22nd January 2008, by Daniel King
A Sheffield-based security firm has developed a system that can detect if intruders have targeted alarm or phone systems by using broadband technology.
If one link in the communications structure of a business is cut, the system triggers an alarm message.
The Emizon Group has been awarded £500,000 from the South Yorkshire Investment Fund to develop their idea, reports the Sheffield Star.
It is believed that the funding will allow the group to grow as an internet protocol signalling service, with ambitions to market its business worldwide.
"We believe we have created a solution which has no global boundaries and through our bases in the US and Australia, we will be able to tackle operations overseas," explains Geoff Girdler of Emizon.
South Yorkshire's Investment Fund has already put £35.5 million into the local business community, including helping with IT solutions such as business broadband and website development.
