Despite the ongoing effects of the economic slowdown, telecommunications company and broadband internet services provider BT has claimed it is currently in a very strong position.
The group states that although the year so far had brought with it some economic challenges, it would still be able to bring a number of price cuts to its product range that would help out its UK customers.
It was advised that BT is expecting to deliver more than £1 billion worth of such savings over 2009 as a whole and is also ploughing investment into the future of its next-generation broadband offerings.
Customer service is another area the group promised would be improved upon wherever possible, as well as more developments in fibre-based internet solutions.
The comments came from BT chairman Sir Michael Rake as he addressed shareholders at the firms annual general meeting - which took place at the Barbican Centre in England's capital this week.
In other news, the network announced this week that it would be helping a number of its users find romance as part of a brand new partnership with online dating agency match.com.
BT LogoSingles will allow consumers to utilise their Vision set-top box to access a database of possible Mr or Mrs Rights.
Kate Taylor, relationship expert at match.com, said: "Being able to search for love on the box, from the comfort of your own couch, means that finding love really couldn't be easier."
Jeremy Rosenberg, business development manager at BT Vision, added the deal would be a perfect business partnership.
