BT has launched two new encryption services which the company says will guarantee full security and privacy.

Both applications, Secure Mail and Encrypted Message Exchange, can run on LogicaCMG's application services provider, according to BT.

For businesses seeking total privacy and looking to "slash costs" the two applications are ideal, BT claims.

Ray Stanton, the global head of BT's business continuity, security and governance practice, remarked: "Every business knows that online communication is fast, convenient and cost-effective.

"But heavily-regulated management teams, in industries like financial services, government and healthcare, have simply refused to risk exposing private details without watertight safeguards."

Secure Mail and Encrypted Message Exchange are both powered by the software security provider Echoworx.

A prime example of a use for the products is if a bank wishes to communicate with is small business clients.

Meanwhile, recent research from BT has found that the area of the UK with the highest level of regeneration is currently Northern Ireland.
