Businesses 'need the right investment'

Businesses 'need the right investment' Companies considering their options regarding IT, which will include services such as business broadband, may also need to consider continuity plans, according to advice from BT Global Services.

It has been shown that one in five large businesses in the UK do not have a detailed business continuity plans, including emergency recovery plans for their IT and communications equipment.

Ray Stanton from BT Global Services commented: "The right business continuity investments don't just protect against threats, they help to build customer confidence and enhance the brand."

However, it was shown that 37 per cent of businesses will increase their business continuity spending in 2008, which could include back-up if broadband and other networks fail due to flooding, or other disasters.

BT has already issued advice as to the importance of business preparation regarding tools such as broadband, as 74 per cent of small and medium size businesses now claim to offer flexible working which necessitates the use of up-to-date communications.
