Consumers using their broadband connection to allow them the flexibility of working from home may be interested in comment released by the British Computer Society's (BCS) Women's Forum.

The forum manager Jan Peters explained that although many companies had steps in place to allow home-working, some managers were unable to put flexible working into practice - a flaw she feels stops some women from progressing.

Ms Peters said: "It is all very well trying to attract women to your company by advertising flexible working, but when it comes down to it, it isn't that easy and they make you feel uncomfortable."

She added that those working from home should be accommodated by meetings at varying times in order to help with issues such as childcare.

Broadband users who would like to know more about the industry may be interested to know that BCS membership comprises of 86 per cent men - a figure Ms Peters said she would like to see change.
