Importance of fast business broadband highlighted
Next generation broadband will become increasingly important to businesses operating in the UK's service economy, it has been claimed.
According to BroadbandChoice.co.uk, the service economy requires firms to immediately transfer large files over high bandwidth connections.
Moreover, next generation broadband would make homeworking and video conferencing much easier.
Earlier this week, David Payne, of the Institute of Advanced Telecommunications at Swansea University, predicted that broadband usage could grow by up to 100 times by 2018.
Product director Michael Phillips said: "We work in a service economy in this country where things like creative services, such as design, require that we can move large files over high bandwidth connections instantaneously."
According to the Broadband Stakeholders Group, the long-term benefits associated with the wide-scale rollout of high-speed broadband would outweigh the cost of deployment, estimated to be about £16 billion.
