Eclipse Internet announces green status
Friday 11th May 2007, by Daniel King
Broadband firm Eclipse Internet has declared that it is carbon neutral after a 12-month review of the impact of its business upon the environment.
After being audited by CarbonNeutral Company and launching several carbon offsetting schemes, the firm has been declared carbon neutral and is now planning to reduce its emissions each year.
Programmes instigated by the company include a forestry project in Uganda, wind farm operations in India and a methane capture initiative in Pennsylvania.
Mark Lang, Eclipse director, said: "Our new carbon neutral status is a major step toward reducing our impact on the environment, but it is the first of many.
"We are committed to becoming a fully green ISP, providing a better, more sustainable service for our many thousands of business and residential customers."
Fresh plans to reduce carbon emissions include cutting business travel, increasing recycling and providing employees with low-energy light bulbs to use in their homes.
Earlier, the provider won the title of best consumer broadband operator at the ISPA Awards.
