Internet service provider Eclipse Internet is appealing to businesses to expand their understanding of teleworking and its related benefits.
A slow uptake of the practice highlights that teleworking still has a long way to go before it moves into the mainstream, Online Recruitment cites the firm as saying.
Benefits can include cost-cutting, an increase in worker productivity and a greater balance between work and life.
Eclipse director Mark Lang said: "The cost and work-life benefits are still key drivers although teleworking is increasingly becoming a crucial part of the drive for greener and sustainable business."
Because much of a business' carbon footprint is produced through commuting, teleworking can help firms enhance their green credentials as well as improving efficiency, he added.
The Teleworking Association is currently urging Britons to attend a conference entitled Teleworking - the forgotten solution to congestion and pollution? to be held in Henley on May 23rd.
