Broadband users "not aware of the potential dangers"

The importance of broadband security in the wake of increasing cases of malicious codes has been highlighted by security firm Kaspersky.
David Emm, senior technology consultant for the company, explained that those using the internet are becoming increasingly susceptible to malicious codes.
Such malware can be picked up simply by clicking on a site if broadband users do not have the correct protection for their browser.
"The more we use the web and the internet generally for networking, financial transactions, banking and so on - obviously that means rich pickings are out there," said Mr Emm.
He added that as consumers were "not aware of the potential dangers," they were potentially placing their computer at risk.
As the range of malicious codes, or malware, increases Panda Software has reported receiving over 3,000 different samples of potentially damaging code every day.
It was reported in the BBC that online viruses are now at an all-time high, with some estimates claiming that there were five times as many variants of malicious programmes in 2007 than there were in 2006.
