Business spam 'on the up'

Spam now accounts for 96.5 per cent of all business emails, up from 92.3 per cent in March, a new study has found.
Indeed, just one in 28 emails was sent legitimately between the start of April and the end of June, according to the latest report by IT security company Sophos.
The firm warned that companies with any sort of presence on the web will find life difficult unless they put into action effective anti-spam filters.
Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos, said that as well as being a nuisance, spam is malicious in its intent.
"Organisations need a consolidated anti-spam and anti-malware solution at their gateway, updated around the clock to neutralise the latest internet attacks," he added.
Earlier this year, the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group published a set of guidelines on how internet service providers can help reduce the levels of spam.
