Google's market share in the US is on the up, according to figures from comScore.
The digital media measurement company found that in February 2007, Google captured 48.1 per cent of the U.S. search market, a 0.6 per cent increase from the previous month.
The statistics showed that Google users conducted 3.3 billion of the 6.9 billion web searches performed by US consumers.
Meanwhile Yahoo! remained in second place with 28.1 per cent of U.S. searches (2 billion searches).
Microsoft was third with 10.5 per cent, while IAC/InterActiveCorp's Ask.com saw its share slide 0.2 per cent to 5.0 per cent in February.
ComScore maintains large proprietary databases that provide a continuous, real-time measurement of the myriad ways in which the Internet is used.
Based in Mountain View, California, Google's mission statement is "to organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful".
The company was co-founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were students at Stanford University.
