Victory against spam

Broadband users who find sites such as MySpace blighted by spam messages may be interested to know the social networking site has been awarded a legal victory in court, reports the BBC.
Action was taken against junk mail senders Sanford Wallace and Walter Rines, resulting in a ruling rewarding MySpace with a $234 million (£120 million) settlement.
Chief security officer for the site Hemanshu Nigam explained that the court case could prevent other spammers.
Mr Nigam said: "Spammers don't want to be prosecuted. They are there to make money. It's our job to send a message to stop them."
Meanwhile, broadband supplier PlusNet has published a protection guide for customers to help them prevent junk mail cluttering their email.
Never reply to a spam message, hide email addresses on social networking sites and do not forward chain messages are some of warnings issued by the company
