Wales takes steps against e-crime

Wales takes steps against e-crime It has been announced that the partnership e-Crime Wales will shortly name its first dedicated police sergeant dealing with online crime, reports icWales.

The partnership was set up to deal with the increasing threat of e-Crime, which could be of interest to broadband users worried about security.

Detective chief superintendent Chris Corcoran of North Wales Police explained: "Businesses in Wales face global e-crime challenges, as threats become more aggressive, intelligent and complex."

He added that the partnership could help support business broadband users hoping to keep their company safe with free advice - support that will be reinforced by the appointment of four more 'e-detectives' by September.

The name of the new sergeant will be revealed at a ceremony at Celtic Manor, before the appointed police representative starts work with the Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones.

E-Crime Wales held its fourth annual summit on June 11th, where a programme of speakers, exhibitions and workshops dealt with issues affecting internet users and their security.
