Once again, broadband users have been alerted to the dangers of crime on the internet.
Security firm Finjan spoke at Infosecurity Europe, highlighting the importance of police action in light of increasing web fraud, which it says is now making use of new tactics, the BBC reports.
It was revealed that sensitive data can be purchased from online services selling information such as medical history, credit card information, pension details and corporate email, highlighting the need for increased internet security.
Chief technology officer at the company Yuval Ben-Itzhak explained: "All this was found on one hacker's server and we believe it was information that was collected to be sold online."
The call was reinforced by the campaign group GetSafeOnline which said a link was needed between the local police forces ad Serious Organised Crime Agency to deal with e-crime.
Broadband provider BT recently announced it was launching a new service to try to reduce credit card fraud with Payment Card Industry regulations.
