Madasafish launches parental control service

Thursday 29th March 2007, by Daniel King

Madasafish have launched a new parental control mechanism to their broadband service that allows parents to filter out unsuitable material from their home computers.

Costing £1.99 a month, parents can set up safe internet 'zones' that block out indecent websites and allow all family members, irrespective of their age, to browse the web in complete safety, reports UK Broadband User Group (UKBUG).

A further option allows parents to control what files can and cannot be downloaded, protecting the system against rogue installations that are often chanced upon by children.

Matthew Henton, head of marketing at Madasafish, told UKBUG: "It is impossible to put too much emphasis on online safety and family security; the threat of offensive material, online bullying and sexual predators is well-known.

"Madasafish is committed to making the internet a safe and enjoyable place, and this application is designed with family safety as the top priority.

"This new service puts parents in control over what sites and content are accessible, and allows them to take a more active part in helping their children to get the best out of the net."
