Sales up for Madasafish after switching law
Thursday 15th March 2007, by Daniel King
Madasafish has seen a 30 per cent increase in the number of people signing up to its broadband service since regulators opened up the market, making it easier to switch internet service providers (ISPs).
Although many companies had signed up to a voluntary agreement which stated that they would provide customers who wanted to switch broadband supplier with a Migrations Authorisation Code (MAC), it was only when it became law to do so on February 14th that many customers began noticing the tangible benefits.
Now customers who want to change ISP must be provided with their MAC within five working days by their current supplier.
Matthew Henton, head of marketing at Madasafish said: "ISPs which consistently ignore satisfaction levels and provide poor customer service are now being punished.
"ISPs with poor levels of customer satisfaction were typically not providing MAC codes, or even charging for them, because they had most to lose."
He added: "We applaud Ofcom's decision to enforce the MAC scheme as it gives broadband users the ability to change providers easily."
