From today, consumers who sign up to Orange's two-year broadband offering will be entitled to a new laptop.

The computers, which are worth more than £300 each, will be distributed after a customer signs up for the deal at a PC World store across the country.

In addition to a 15.4 inch widescreen display, the laptops are fitted with a DVD rewriter and 40 GB hard drive.

Another option offered by the broadband firm is to receive £350 off a laptop computer in the whole of PC World's range, or trade up to a better product for an additional £19.99 or more.

To qualify for the free laptop, consumers must sign up to at least a two-year deal at £14.99 per month, with the first three months being half price. This offering allows for up to 2 mb broadband and includes a wired ADSL modem.

A further option is available for £19.99 which allows unlimited downloads.

Niall O'Keeffe, marketing director of PC World, said: "I am sure that the inclusion of a free laptop will electrify the market."
