Orange 'aims to expand mobile broadband portflio'
Wednesday 5th August 2009, by Daniel King
Orange is committed to expanding its range of mobile broadband solutions so customers of all types can benefit.
The network said it aims to provide flexible options for consumers - and three new price plans unveiled today (August 5th) help to do this.
A usage alert system has been introduced, which can be downloaded for free. It tells people when they are coming up to their limit, so they can ease off using the internet if they do not want to spend any more money.
In addition, an automatic billing cap will be in place each month, so mobile broadband users do not end up being charged over an extra £40 if they use more than their allocated data allowance in the UK.
Those who do not use the web that much can also take advantage of a new under-£5 tariff. Home broadband, pay monthly and pay as you go customers can enter into an 18-month Internet Everywhere service.
This costs £4.89 per month for an allowance of 500 Mb and speeds for downloading up to 3.6 Mbps. The package also comes with a free Huawei E160e dongle that doubles up as a memory stick.
Finally, the Early Bird tariff has also been unveiled by Orange. This starts at under £13 per month and gives unlimited mobile broadband between 00:00 and 09:00 BST/GMT, as well as a regular 1GB/3GB/10GB allowance. Contracts last for 12 months.
News of the latest products follows an announcement from the network earlier this week that it has teamed up with Samsung to release the first Welsh mobile phone.
