Orange boosts mobile broadband offerings with two laptops

Friday 27th November 2009, by Daniel King

Orange has announced details of a new mobile broadband package that it will be making available alongside two new laptops - the Asus 1005HGO and the Compaq CQ61.

It was advised by the network that the duo would both come equipped with the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows 7, while each would offer something a little different in terms of technology.

The Orange-exclusive Asus 1005HGO comes equipped with an integrated sim card, a 10.1-inch screen and a built-in webcam.

Compaq's CQ61, on the other hand, uses an Orange e1752 dongle to connect to the web, but boats a 15.6-inch screen and DVD drive, so users can watch movies or other video content on the go.

Commenting on the launch of the new packages, director of devices at the company in Britain Francois Mahieu said that when combined with its mobile broadband services, they are ideal for business and leisure use.

"We will continue to build on these offerings throughout 2010 to ensure our customers benefit from one of the most competitive product portfolios in the UK," he added.

The devices are available on either 18 or 24-month contract of between £25 and £40 per month, dependent on whether a 1 GB, 3 GB, or 5 GB download limit is required.

Orange concluded by saying that each of these plans were "designed to provide choice, flexibility and great value for money".

Earlier this month, the firm came out top in an independent YouGov survey that looked at consumer satisfaction with mobile broadband services.
