Orange broadband literary shortlist announced

Orange broadband literary shortlist announced Orange broadband customers may be interested in the support their provider is giving to the literary scene, as the shortlist for the Orange Broadband Award for New Writers is announced.

The prize, a £10,000 bursary, will be given to any female writer whose first work of fiction has been published in the UK within the past year.

Shortlisted writers for 2008, chosen for their potential, are Lauren Groff for The Monsters of Templeton, Joanna Kavenna for Inglorious and Lauren Liebenberg, who wrote The Voluptuous Delights of Peanut Butter and Jam.

Head of partnerships at Orange UK Hattie Magee explained: "Optimism and belief in the future is at the heart of what Orange believe in which is why we are so passionate about supporting and rewarding a new generation of fresh and emerging talent."

A ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall on June 4th will be held to announce the winner of the prestigious award.

Earlier in the year, Orange showed support for the arts by supporting the Rising Star award at the Baftas, which was this year won by Shia La Beouf.
