Orange broadband services 'can free up business users'

Wednesday 13th May 2009, by Daniel King

The Orange network claims to be able to offer an affordable and effective option for businesses looking to provide their staff with a mobile broadband solution.

It is suggested that as companies look to introduce more flexible working facilities for their employees, questions can be raised with regards the best approach to implementing this.

However, it claims with the help of Orange Mobile Workforce Management, an initiative that has been developed in conjunction with its partner Cognito, the necessary tools can be applied to make such moves possible.

In addition, the group states IT departments will be able to "free up their workforce" with a host of applications that make the processes involved with remote working better suited to the needs of the individual staff member.

Orange believe "first-hand research" has pointed to the fact that firms are increasingly looking to introduce mobile telephony and broadband services that operate outside traditional places of work and the Mobile Workforce Management division has been designed to serve this need.

Robert Ainger, director of corporate marketing at Orange UK, said that whether organisations were suffering or succeeding in a time of economic uncertainty, it was always important to be able to provide a reliable connection for their staff that is worthy of their initial investment.

"By mobilising existing applications and processes, businesses can become more competitive and their mobile workforce more efficient, more flexible and more productive," he added.

The network recently added the HTC Touch to its line of business-focussed mobile phones.
