Orange launches new broadband devices

Wednesday 4th February 2009, by Daniel King

Orange has announced the introduction of several new mobile broadband devices designed to keep users connected while on the move.

The HP Compaq Mini 700 and Toshiba L300 laptops will be added to the firm's "connected" range, allowing consumers to sign up to a 24-month contract without the need to pay for the devices upfront.

Orange already offers the Asus Eee PC 901 as part of its mobile broadband line and the new offerings are designed to allow users more choice and flexibility.

The firm also announced the release of the Huawei E160e - a dongle with data storage capacity that means users can store photos, music and other information as they surf the net.

Both laptops will come with Orange's Internet Everywhere mobile broadband service and dongle, with a 3GB monthly data allowance.

The Toshiba L300, which features a 15.4-inch widescreen display 160GB storage capacity, will be available for a monthly fee of £35.

Meanwhile, customers looking to make the most of internet access on the go may plump for the £30-a-month HP Compaq Mini 700, which features a 10.1-inch compact design and weighs just 1Kg.

Asif Aziz, director of broadband and home at Orange, said the new products will help supply users with a "flexible solution" that fits around their chosen lifestyle.

"We will continue to build on these offerings throughout 2009 so as to ensure our customers benefit from one of the most competitive portfolios for mobile broadband in the UK," he added.

Orange recently became the first provider in the UK to offer consumers the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone on Pay as you Go, allowing them to surf the web and access email direct from their mobile phones.
