Orange launches safety online programme

Orange launches safety online programme Broadband provider Orange has announced the launch of a programme to increase safety for young people online.

The Safety Online scheme provides materials for teachers to teach children about how to take advantages of broadband and the internet, in a safe but fun way.

Part of the campaign involves film clips, which raise issues such as sharing information on social networking sites and posting personal experiences online, which they may later regret.

Christele Delbe, head of corporate responsibility at Orange UK, explained: "It's about recognising the exciting opportunities that technology presents today, whilst educating young people in a positive way on how to enjoy the internet safely."

Orange announced earlier in the year that those developing broadband skills could be told their 'internet age' on a dedicated website.

Users can be told if they are a novice, with a low internet age, or a well-versed 'virtual veteran' - information which has helped Orange put together an internet safety education module for schools.
