Orange offers 'free' laptops

Friday 15th August 2008, by Daniel King

Orange is offering 'free' laptop computers to mobile broadband customers from tomorrow (Saturday August 16th).

Customers will be able to purchase a package consisting of Orange's Internet Everywhere service, a dongle and an Asus Eee PC 900 laptop.

Customers will have sign up to a £25-a-month contract, including 3 GB of data and 100 texts for 24 months.

Orange first announced plans to sell laptops in June. Francois Mahieu, a director at Orange, said the launch is just the start of a spate of deals.

"Over time we will be expanding our offering even further with more suppliers who are at the forefront of laptop technology," he explained.

"It is Orange's aim to be at the forefront of serving today's 21st century customers."

Orange is not the first company to offer a broadband and laptop bundle. Carphone Warehouse, 3 and Phones 4u have also gone down this route.

The Asus laptop weighs 0.99 kg and offers 8.9-inch compact design.
