Thursday 14th May 2009, by Daniel King

Orange broadband customers can take part in what is being predicted will be a hectic few weeks of cinema-going.

This month, the company has celebrated five years of Orange Wednesdays and has seen a 30 per cent increase in demand for its long-standing two-for-one offer.

Now it is forecasting a "bumper" few weeks of cinema visits thanks to the vast array of films that are showing.

As well as Star Trek and X-Men Origins; Wolverine the follow-up to the Da Vinci Code - Angels and Demons starring Tom Hanks - is out today (May 14th).

Orange claims its offer has saved its customers over £30 million during the past five years, with it being taken advantage of 14 million times.

Broadband customers can take advantage of the deal by simply registering their unique username by text.

The company said: "As well as saving customers precious pennies, Orange Wednesdays has resulted in up to three million additional annual visits to UK cinemas, adding investment and growth to the industry.

"Wednesday is now the most popular day of the week to go to the cinema outside of the weekend - when it used to be the slowest."

The hit Abba musical Mamma Mia has been revealed to be the most popular movie to date for Orange customer - with 276,549 people saving money thanks to the deal.

Meanwhile, a new offer has been established called the Orange Wednesday Pizza Express Partnership, which has seen Orange team up with eatery Pizza Express to give customers two-for-one pizzas across the country.
