BSkyB broadband investment

BSkyB broadband investment British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) has announced it gained 260,000 new broadband customers in the final quarter of 2007 and the company appears confident about the future.

The company also revealed it had invested £103 million in its broadband, Sky Talk and Easynet Enterprise services, which may interest those looking for a new broadband provider.

Chief executive of BSkyB Jeremy Darroch commented: "We enter calendar year 2008 in good shape. A combination of outstanding choice, quality and value leadership leaves us well positioned."

It was also revealed that the company as a whole had gained 385,000 UK customers and had a reduced level of customers cancelling their subscriptions.

Sky launched its broadband service in July 2006, which offers Sky customers free broadband access.

Other services offered by the company include Sky HD, Sky+, Sky multi-room and Sky Talk; it is estimated that almost one in three households subscribe to a Sky service.
