BSkyB has announced that it is being forced to delay the release of Sky Broadband's Picnic service.

The company stated that Ofcom has not granted the firm approval for the service which offers subscribers Freeview, phone and broadband, reports ISP Review.

Sky has already had to put back the release of the product and now attributes the further delays to Ofcom's reluctance to speed up the process.

A statement from the internet service provider said: "The Picnic team have done everything they can to prepare for launch and there's nothing left to be achieved until Ofcom makes its mind up."

However, Ofcom responded by saying that BSkyB had been late in submitting certain key forms, a fact that had also contributed to the company's suspension of its plans.

Sky currently offers its subscribers up to 16 Mbps with unlimited downloads for £10 each month on its Sky Max package. Less intensive users can get the Sky Mid package with eight Mbps speeds and 40 GB usage for £5 every 30 days.
