Sky broadband offer 'could be great if you want Sky TV'

Sky's latest broadband offer might work well for those who already want Sky TV.
This is the opinion of Which?, after it was announced that new and existing Sky TV customers can benefit from the provider's Broadband Unlimited package free for six months if they sign up for a 12-month contract before February 5th.
The consumer watchdog explained that while Sky's standard offer of free broadband includes its Base package - with a speed of 2Mbps and cap of 2GB - customers can obtain Broadband Unlimited, which comes with a speed of 20Mbps and free UK landline calls at evenings and weekends.
"Unlike most broadband services, Sky's Broadband Unlimited offers a genuinely unlimited broadband experience," Which? said, referring to many providers' fair usage limits that aim to discourage excessive downloading.
After the six months are up, the price of the phone and broadband package will cost £10 per month.
Which? concluded: "Although only Sky TV subscribers can get Sky phone and broadband, if you already have or want Sky TV its bundles could save you money compared to taking out broadband and phone deals with different providers."
Comparing broadband deals could be a wise move as the new year approaches, especially for those who want to make 2010 a cost-effective period.
Shoppers should consider all aspects of a package, such as speed, download limits, regional coverage and the length of a contract. Line rental from a different provider can also increase costs, so this should be factored into the decision as well.
