Sky Broadband 'to reach 70% of UK homes'
Digital TV network Sky's broadband service now has the capability to reach over 70 per cent of UK households, according to the technology service provider it is working with.
Since launching last year, Sky Broadband has gained over 700,000 users and is available to the majority of Sky's television customers.
However, technology provider Telent, along with Easynet, has completed a major line unbundling project [LLU] which increases Sky's access to local telephone exchanges. The two companies have worked with Sky to install a complete ADSL platform.
Trevor Legg, Easynet's network implementation director, said: "Such has been the strong demand for Sky's great value broadband as part of its See, Speak, Surf suite of services, it was essential that we were able to deliver against Sky's aggressive LLU targets."
Sky's broadband package allows surfers to gain access to a super-fast internet connection but all users must be signed up to either digital TV or telephone packages.
