Broadband intro offers 'seductive'

Broadband intro offers 'seductive' Consumers are being "seduced" by the various introductory deals on offer when choosing their home broadband package, it is claimed.

A study by BroadbandChoices.co.uk concluded that intro deals are the "number one factor" for Britons when choosing their broadband service.

Over 50 per cent surveyed had signed up for an intro deal, with a further third switching to another offer when the deal ended.

However, another third of consumers stayed with their supplier after the deal had expired because they did not want the "hassle" of switching.

Michael Phillips, from BroadbandChoices.co.uk, said that more and more people are choosing these offers thinking it will save them money in the long term.

"It is important however to ensure that the deal you sign up for matches your requirements - no matter how tempting the intro deal," he added.

In June, Ofcom revealed plans to launch a voluntary code requiring internet service providers to publish accurate broadband speeds in order to provide clarity for those looking for the best broadband deal.
