BT bails out beleaguered Biscit broadband customers

BT bails out beleaguered Biscit broadband customers BT Wholesale has announced that it is set to come to the rescue of customers of internet service provider Biscit.

Biscit went in to administration last week but BT has said that it will provide around half of the firm's 13,000 users with a connection to its own network.

"BT Wholesale is doing all it can to make sure that affected customers are supported by extending the deadline for disconnection and providing MACs directly to customers," commented BT's director of regulatory affairs, Gaby Heppner-Logan.

Breathe has also announced plans to help, with around 1,500 Biscit V21 users moved to Breathe's network, far less than the original plan to migrate all of Biscit's London-based users.

Biscit customers will eventually be required to either sign up with a Breathe or BT package or get hold of a MAC number that will allow them to migrate to another provider altogether.

Biscit launched in 1999 but its offer of free internet for life has often landed it in trouble.
