Customers vote BT best broadband provider
Customers have voted BT the best broadband provider, in a poll by the BBC's Watchdog.
Viewers of the consumer feedback programme were asked to rate their broadband provider on points such as customer service, ease of set-up, cancellation, value for money and reliability of service.
The 50,000 respondents voted BT the best broadband service provider (with 18,862 votes). Virgin was second, followed by AOL Europe, Tiscali and TalkTalk.
The programme also announced high achievers in some less flattering categories.
Orange was voted the Worst Broadband provider, with 12,313 votes. In second place came Talk Talk and in third place BT.
The fact that the same names dominate both tables demonstrates that a small number of companies are taking the lion's share of broadband custom.
However, the survey also revealed that more than 90 per cent of users of services from smaller outfits, Waitrose and Madasafish, were 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied' with their services.
BT Total Broadband offers connection speeds between ten and 160 times faster than dialup.
