TalkTalk plans to increase customer base

It has been revealed that Carphone Warehouse, which provides broadband service TalkTalk, plans to build on its position as Britain's third most popular residential broadband operator.
Charles Dunstone, the chief executive and founder of Carphone Warehouse, explained that the company had dealt with issues connected with customer services, reports the Edinburgh Evening News.
Although a drop in profits was announced by the company, attributed to some start-up costs, it was revealed that TalkTalk hopes to increase its customer base by 15 per cent by the end of the financial year.

ISPs refuse to 'police' broadband

Although internet service providers (ISPs) have been urged to help reduce piracy on the web, discussions between broadband companies and film and television industries have collapsed, reports the Independent.
It has been reported that insiders have indicated that smaller providers could be willing to introduce a gradual response scheme to deal with pirates, by taking steps such as reducing the connection speeds of offending broadband users.
Broadband and the audio-visual industry have been alerted to the issue in South Korea, where many people use their super-fast internet to watch films and television programmes - a trend which has been noted in Britain.

TalkTalk sponsors jazz and comedy festivals

Broadband provider TalkTalk has announced it will be sponsoring the jazz and comedy festivals in Ealing this year.
The Jazz Festival, which is held in Walpole Park, takes place between July 23rd and 27th, while the comedy can be seen on July 11th and 12th, then from the 16th to the 18th.
Managing director of TalkTalk Wendy Becker said: "We are delighted to be able to support these two festivals, which over the past years have continued to provide great entertainment for local families and also attract new visitors to the area."
