Carphone Warehouse unveils unlimited internet package
Tuesday 12th April 2011, by Daniel King
The Carphone Warehouse has announced a new package that gives customers unlimited internet access from £12 per month.
Entitled Never Pay For The Internet, the new offer is available through the company's Talkmobile network, which is powered by Vodafone.
However, it is only obtainable for an initial period of April 6th to May 4th, with Carphone Warehouse opting to complete a trial period before fully releasing it on to the market.
Prior to this package, consumers had to be on tariffs that cost at least £25 a month in order to qualify for unlimited data use online, though the new deal means that an additional 300,000 customers will be able to use the web on their handsets.
Mark Eastham, UK trading director at the Carphone Warehouse, said: "We wanted to offer customers a catch-free data tariff and we're really looking forward to seeing the results of this trial.
"The Talkmobile 'Never Pay for the Internet' demonstrates fantastic value and is unbeatable in the market."
People who choose the package will also gain a mobile as part of their contract, with the company making 30 handsets available in the deal.
These include the HTC Wildfire on a £12 per month offer, the INQ Cloud Touch at £18 a month or the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, which commands a £30 monthly fee.
Commenting on the deal, Mr Eastham noted: "There's a range of tariffs to suit all budgets and an impressive range of 30 smartphones to choose from when taking out a contract."
The Carphone Warehouse's competitor Three has also made new efforts to satisfy customers.
It has released the Huawei E367 dongle, which offers the company's fastest mobile broadband and an improved performance in comparison to older models.
Three has claimed that browsing speed will be 40 per cent faster with the new device, while a rotating head will allow consumers to gain the best possible internet access.
