TalkTalk preparing for customers to WalkWalk

Friday 28th September 2007, by Daniel King

Broadband provider Carphone Warehouse is preparing itself for a major loss of custom over the coming months as hundreds of thousands of free broadband contracts expire.

Eighteen months ago, the company launched its TalkTalk free unlimited broadband package, which was the first such package on the market.

The company has overcome a number of complaints about lack of availability of the service since then to become the third biggest ISP on the market. UK Broadband User Group suggests many customers may look at other deals on the market now that their contracts are expiring.

TalkTalk told the news provider: "We are confident that customers that have enjoyed free broadband will continue to do so. This is borne out by our own research and independent research by Point Topic that shows that the majority of TalkTalk customers are happy with their service and happy to remain with TalkTalk."

Carphone Warehouse bought AOL UK for £370 million last year and integrated it into the TalkTalk brand.
