UK 'better informed than ever due to broadband'

UK 'better informed than ever due to broadband' A new study has revealed that the UK is even more up-to-date on current affairs due the increased use of the internet.

The survey by TalkTalk found that the average UK resident will view in excess of 275,000 news stories in their lifetime.

It also discovered that Britons may check online for news up to three times each day, with one in six saying that they read more than 20 stories a day.

TalkTalk found that domestic news accounted for one-third of the stories read.

However, access to online sources such as the New York Times and Le Figaro, has led foreign affairs to be the second most interesting topic to Britons.

Dominic Stinton of the broadband provider commented: "The internet does enable us to access so many different interpretations of a news story … meaning we can often make a much more informed opinion ourselves."

In related news, a poll conducted by ISP Review recently found that over 50 per cent of people spend more than 24 hours each week online while at home.
