Launch of On Demand Entertainment Awards
Friday 7th March 2008, by Daniel King
Some of the best entertainment available on broadband will be celebrated in the new On Demand Entertainment Awards from Tiscali.
The internet service provider is launching the awards to celebrate the people and organisations behind on-demand programming that is available over the internet, as well as on mobile technologies and television.
According to the firm, the awards are set to take place in London, when the results of industry and public votes will be announced in a special ceremony.
Tiscali explained there will be "categories acknowledging technical and creative innovation leading to advances in understanding, adoption and uptake of on-demand content".
Further details will be released in April, although all shows and entertainment which can be viewed on demand by consumers is eligible for the Tiscali awards.
Broadband users are being offered an increasing amount of on-demand entertainment, with services such as Channel 4 OD and BBC iPlayer providing a range of programmes that can be watched after being broadcast on television.
