TalkTalk comments on official Tiscali acquisition

Monday 6th July 2009, by Daniel King

Following the announcement Tiscali UK has officially become part of the Carphone Warehouse Group, its position as an arm of the company's TalkTalk brand has been discussed.

It is explained that the move will allow TalkTalk to become the biggest provider of broadband services in the UK and as a result of this, all of its customers – old and new - can expect to enjoy improved telecommunications in the future.

Serving over four million homes across the UK, it is noted Tiscali UK and its subsidiaries - Pipex, Nildram and Freedom2Surf - will now have access to greater bandwidths, more advanced services, more support and cheaper telephone calls.

TalkTalk managing director Wendy Becker suggested moves had already been made to look at the needs of its client base and come up with ways to make their overall experience better, adding "there are already things in the pipeline".

"We've invested heavily in customer service and we'll be applying these learnings very quickly to ensure Tiscali customers begin to see improvements in the short term," she explained.

She went on to note TalkTalk had recently been voted best value home phone company and 90 per cent of its current users thought their offering was "as good [as] or better than their previous network".

Last week, Sylvain Thevenot, senior director of products and alliances at the broadband company, made a number of comments that referenced the publication of the Digital Britain report. In an article for the firm's blog he said the group was committed to helping people achieve the best possible network speeds available in their area - adding it had facilities like Turbo Boost in place to help provide this.
