TalkTalk elaborates on Tiscali business plan
Friday 22nd May 2009, by Daniel King
TalkTalk has elaborated upon its plans for the Tiscali network, having provisionally acquired the broadband services provider earlier this month.
Previously, managing director Wendy Becker had attempted to answer some of the questions customers may have had in the TalkTalk blog, stating that although the deal was subject to EU approval, there was little for people to worry about.
She explained that all Tiscali TV services would continue as normal, with brands like Pipex, freedom2surf, Nildram, Bulldog and Toucan all falling under the banner of the TalkTalk Group.
Now, the firm has enlisted the help of its chief executive officer Charles Dunstone, as well as its corporate development director David Goldie in a bid to offer a broader view of how the businesses will amalgamate into one single entity.
The pair underlined plans to fully support Tiscali's existing channel and wholesale business in the UK, building upon the firm's many existing achievements, while at the same time bringing in its own expertise in the fields of voice telephony services and data provision.
Mr Dunstone explained: "Tiscali will bring a significant additional dimension to the group and enable us to further develop the markets for both enterprise networks and white-label ADSL broadband."
According to Mr Goldie, the acquisition will also allow for "an exciting programme of product innovation and development over the next year", that it is hoped will benefit the firm and its business partners.
Ms Becker also stated in her blog entry that TalkTalk would be taking Tiscali's wider network under its own communications company, Opal.
