TalkTalk's Tiscali acquisition 'good news for customers'

The merger between TalkTalk and Tiscali will build on the efforts of both companies to provide users with fast and reliable broadband services, it has been advised.
In a post for the TalkTalk Blog, Charles Dunstone expands on his comments made at the time the announcement was made about the former company's confirmed bid to acquire the latter.
He notes that since his company was established in February 2003, it has been dedicated to taking on other service providers in offering the highest value and widest range of internet options.
This level of determination is cited as testament to its current status in the market - which will be elevated even further once the acquisition is made.
"It's been quite a journey which has seen us build and run the UK's most advanced next generation network," he explains, adding that the launch of its free broadband initiative was one particular triumph - although it was a controversial move at the time.
He goes on to comment on the lessons TalkTalk has learned in addressing what its users want and states that some of these have been applied in their determination to improve levels of customer service - something it is suggested can be seen in the results of a recent study.
"We've been voted best value home phone company and recognised for having the most improved customer service of any broadband provider in the uSwitch survey in April," Mr Dunstone explains.
Last week, D'Arcy Rossiter of TalkTalk posted his own comments on how the firm had attempted to boost relationships with its users by discussing the matter at the Telecom Executive Network conference.
