Wednesday 14th November 2007, by Daniel King
Broadband provider Tiscali has announced that it is has passed the two million customer mark during the last three months.
In its quarterly financial results, the Italian-based firm said that it has added 638,000 broadband customers since the start of 2007, but had recorded just 36,000 Tiscali TV customers.
The majority of the increase in customer base has been put down to the acquision of rival broadband provider Pipex earlier this year, which Tiscali paid £210 million for. The company has over 4.2 million customers across Europe.
A statement from Tiscali said: "The acquisition of Pipex has further strengthened the competitive position of Tiscali in the UK as one of the main integrated telephone operators, with approximately two million broadband customers and capable of offering to its customers internet access, voice and multimedia services"
Tiscali launched its on-demand internet-based television service, Tiscali TV, in September.
