Tiscali subscribers given new menu system

Subscribers to Tiscali's broadband, phone and television services have been advised to expect an upgraded version of their set-top box's electronic programme guide (EPG).
From June 10th, the device will be updated to provide its customers with a faster and more simplified way of navigating channels and selecting their favourite TV shows, radio stations, catch-up shows and movies on demand.
As well as being in a new widescreen aspect, the new EPG will utilise high definition technology to bring the menu to the screen in a sharper resolution for those with enabled services.
Tiscali claims the new system will be "the most user-friendly and personalised interface ever for TV viewers in the UK" and states the integrated software can be personalised to greet each person in the home when they log on to the unit.
Commenting on the launch, managing director of the company's TV division Jonathan Sykes explains the EPG was designed with the sole purpose of providing a menu with "the viewer's interests at its heart".
"With so much content now available we wanted to make it easier and quicker for viewers to find the TV they want to watch but also give them options to get to that content in different ways to suit their needs and habits," he adds.
One improvement is the addition of a new Icon Bar that takes the user to either the All Channels, Catch Up, On Demand, My Tiscali+, TV Guides, TV Showcase and Search pages.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed Tiscali had been acquired by TalkTalk.
