Consumers thinking about switching their broadband provider were given another reason to consider a combined package from Virgin Media last week, when the company announced an addition to its high definition (HD) line-up.
The internet, telephone and television group advised the Living channel would be made available in the format for the first time ever in the UK via its set-top box - which could tempt fans of the station's selection of programmes.
Virgin Media noted that the offering would add to an already substantial selection of HD options that include a number of BBC channels, as well as Channel 4, ESPN, FX, MTV and National Geographic.
Mark Schweitzer, the company's chief commercial officer, explained that Living was the most watched portal on the firm's listings and as such this new option would be a great addition to the package.
Jonathan Webb, managing director of Virgin Media Television, added the move would be "a significant step forward" for the group, as the channel "offers some of the glossiest shows around".
"Its HD launch will showcase our line-up at its most vivid and colourful," the spokesman concluded.
Shows in the Living cannon include Most Haunted, Four Weddings, Ghost Whisperer, Private Practice, Boston Legal, CSI Vegas and entries in the Next Top Model series.
Earlier this month, Virgin Media unveiled details of a new partnership with Disney that would see more content from the animation and children's entertainment group brought to its TV, web and mobile platforms.
