An expert in the sector has stated that packages offering high-definition television along with high-speed gaming and broadband could soon be "a reality".

Thomas Newton of UK Web Media noted that the broadband market could soon plateau as there is a finite number of potential subscribers throughout the world.

He said that the UK is already beginning to see this take place but noted that a number of providers are already taking measures to offer bigger inclusive bundles.

BT and Virgin Media are currently offering consumers digital television along with on-demand options and broadband.

They could soon be followed by Orange and O2, both of whom have suggested that they plan to launch their own IPTV platforms in the future.

With schemes in place to install high-speed broadband connections in the UK, customers could soon be able to include digital TV and fast gaming connections to their broadband packages.

According to Mr Newton: "High-speed broadband alongside high definition digital TV and gaming all through one provider [could become] a reality, however customer demand is as likely to be driven by available content as well as speed."

Sky Broadband has recently released its See, Speak and Surf bundle which features Sky TV, fixed-line calls and broadband.

Currently, one of the fastest broadband bundles available to UK buyers is offered by Virgin Media.

The company offers up to 20Mbps internet connection via fibre optic cables along with unlimited UK landline calls and 145 channels of television for £49 each month.

Those who subscribe to this can also get a free wireless router and PCguard Total to protect their computer from viruses and pop-ups.
